Jobsite Performance Guidelines

 

Hatfield Construction, Inc. is committed to excellence. Our employees are expected to maintain our established performance standards while on the jobsite and while affiliated with this company. We conduct regular staff meetings, specialized training, and safety orientations to better serve our clients. It is our desire to establish a solid trust relationship with each client. Following are the performance guidelines or expectations we have established for our employees. Please take the time to review these expectations, we desire to help each customer feel comfortable through all construction and remodel projects taking place on their property.

Dress Code: Employees will be appropriately dressed for the type of work being performed, weather conditions, and special product application. At no time are the employees allowed to remove their shirts or wear short pants.

Language: Employees are expected to be courteous and respectful to all clients, their families, and guests. Cursing and distasteful storytelling and joking are considered unprofessional, and will not be tolerated.

Personal Habits: The use of alcohol, drugs, and chewing / smoking tobacco is considered to be a distraction from one's assigned duties, often becomes a safety problem, and is an invasion of a client's privacy and property. Employees will not be allowed to report to work under the influence of alcohol or drugs, nor be permitted to smoke or chew tobacco on job sites. Employees may smoke or chew in the confines of their own personal vehicles during recognized break periods, however, no evidence of these personal habits shall be left  on a clients property. For safety purposes, use of prescription medications must be approved by management  prior to reporting to a job site.

Timeliness: Employees are expected to report to work on time. Standard work hours are from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday thru Friday with a 15 minute break allowed in the morning and again in the afternoon, and a thirty (30) minute lunch break. Start time on job sites will be prearranged with each client based on the nature of the project and client preferences.

Radios: Radios are common place on construction job sites. The choice of radio stations and volume levels may become offensive to clients or other employees, and could become a distraction from work duties. It is the policy of this company to allow the use of job site radios provided their use meets with the approval of the client, the volume level is not disturbing to the client, neighbors, or on site management, and their use does not cause job performance or safety distractions.

Consistency: Once a project has begun, it is the commitment of this company to remain on the job site consistently until the project is completed or there is an impasse reached where work cannot continue until the impasse is resolved. An impasse may include inspections, material shipments, sub-contractor delays, weather conditions, change orders, redesign issues, and other similar issues.

Clean-up: Employees and sub-contractors are expected to keep job sites tidy, uncluttered, organized, and generally clean at all times. The job site will be swept and trash picked up on a daily basis at the end of the work shift. Basic tools will not be left overnight on the job site without the specific permission of both the management and the client. Food and beverage items (except water) will not be allowed in new or finished work areas.

Finished Product Protection: It is the responsibility of each employee to protect from damage any new or finished product item installed in a construction project. This policy also extends to existing items and property intended to be reused, salvaged, or remaining in a clients property. The use of tarps, covers, and protective barriers will be considered wherever possible.

Safety: Job site safety is the responsibility of each employee. All safety regulations prescribed by O.S.H.A. and this company's insurance carrier shall be strictly adhered to by all employees and sub-contractors. Employees are responsible to maintain a thorough familiarity with all safety regulations.

Communication and Scheduling: Each project shall have a production schedule (whether written or verbal), and it will be the lead carpenter's responsibility to keep the project on schedule, and to have a clear understanding of the total scope of the project. The lead carpenter or the project supervisor shall make every attempt to communicate with the client of an active project on a daily basis.

A man's house or office is his domain. Since most of your time will be spent in your home or in your office space, you will take pride in the manner in which you care for your property.
